Terms of Service

1. Welcome to Aara

Aara is a tracking and education tool — not a doctor, not a medical device, and not a contraceptive. Your data lives only on your phone.

These Terms are an agreement between you and the developer of Aara, an independent developer based in Bengaluru, India. By downloading, installing, or using Aara ("the App"), you accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App. These Terms apply to the Aara Android app, package com.aara.app, and match the text shown inside the app at version 2.4.

2. Eligibility and Age Requirements

Minimum age

You must be at least 13 years old to use Aara. The app blocks use where the entered birthdate indicates an age under 13, and the block cannot be bypassed.

Users aged 13–17 (teen mode)

If you are between 13 and 17 years of age, Aara runs in teen mode. In teen mode:

• You may use Aara's core cycle tracking, calendar, journal, and reminder features
• The AI companion is unavailable — no question of yours is ever sent to Google Gemini
• The trying-to-conceive tracker and the pregnancy tracker are unavailable
• Adult health content is not shown
• Advertising is fully disabled. No ad is requested and the Google Mobile Ads SDK is never started for you

India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 treats anyone under 18 as a child and, at Sec 9(3), prohibits targeted advertising directed at children. Aara goes further and serves no advertising of any kind to under-18 users. If you are a minor, you should use Aara with the knowledge and consent of a parent or guardian.

18 and over

The AI companion, the trying-to-conceive features, and the pregnancy tracker are intended for users 18 and older.

3. Aara Is Not Medical Advice

• Predictions are estimates. Cycle, ovulation, and fertile window predictions are calculated from the data you log and may be inaccurate, especially with irregular cycles or conditions such as PCOS.
• Not contraception. Fertile window and ovulation estimates must not be used to prevent pregnancy. Aara is not a contraceptive method.
• AI answers can be wrong. The AI companion generates responses automatically. They may be incomplete or incorrect and are for general information only. Always verify health decisions with a doctor.
• Doctor Prep is a summary, not a diagnosis. It organises your own logged data to support a conversation with your doctor.
• Emergencies. Aara is not an emergency or crisis service. If you are experiencing a medical or mental health emergency, contact local emergency services or a crisis helpline immediately.
• Health content in Aara, including phase-based food and lifestyle suggestions, describes what may help some people. Individual results vary.

4. Your Data, Your Responsibility

Aara stores your data only on your device (see the Privacy Policy). This gives you privacy, and it also means:

• If you uninstall the app, delete your data, lose your phone, or your device fails without having made a backup, your data is permanently lost and cannot be recovered by us.
• You are responsible for safeguarding your device, your optional encrypted backups, and any exports you create.
• You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you log.

5. Aara Plus Subscriptions

Plans

Aara Plus is offered as monthly, 3-month, and annual subscriptions. Current plans and prices are shown on the Aara Plus screen in the app and in Google Play. Prices include applicable taxes and may change; the price shown in Google Play at the time of purchase applies.

Free trial

New users receive a 7-day free trial with full Aara Plus access — unlimited AI and no ads. After the trial, the Aara AI companion requires an active Aara Plus subscription, and non-personalised ads appear on non-sensitive screens for adult free-tier users. Doctor Prep remains free for everyone and still shows a preview of its AI-generated questions; the full set of those questions is a Plus feature.

Billing

Subscriptions are billed and auto-renewed through your Google Play account. Manage or cancel anytime in Play Store → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; access continues until the end of the paid period.

Refunds

Handled under Google Play's refund policies. For issues, contact us at support@aarahealth.org and we will do our best to help.

What Plus includes

Unlimited Aara AI companion questions, the complete set of AI-generated Doctor Prep questions, and no ads. The Doctor Prep PDF itself, the calendar, journal, reminders, and the TTC and Pregnancy trackers are free for all users.

6. Advertising

Ads are served by Google AdMob, are always requested as non-personalised, and are never targeted using your health data. Your health data is never shared with AdMob.

No ads are shown to:

• Users aged 13–17 (teen mode) — Aara is completely ad-free for anyone under 18
• Anyone during the 7-day free trial
• Aara Plus subscribers

Everyone else sees non-personalised banner ads on non-sensitive screens only — never in the Journal, AI chat, trying-to-conceive, pregnancy, Doctor Prep, or Settings areas. The advertising SDK is not started until after you accept these Terms.

We do not endorse advertised products, and any transaction with an advertiser is between you and them.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: reverse engineer, copy, resell, or redistribute the app or its content; attempt to bypass the AI rate limits, paywall, or age gates; use the AI companion to generate harmful, unlawful, or abusive content; or use the app in violation of applicable law. We may restrict access to the AI service for abuse.

8. Intellectual Property

The Aara app, name, logo, design, and content are owned by us or our licensors and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for your own personal, non-commercial use. The data you log is yours.

9. Third-Party Services

Aara relies on third-party services that have their own terms: Google Play and Google Play Billing, Google AdMob, the Google Gemini API (for AI features), Cloudflare Workers (our AI proxy), and Google Drive (for optional backups you initiate). We are not responsible for the availability or conduct of third-party services, and AI features require an internet connection and may be temporarily unavailable.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

Aara is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of predictions or AI output, and uninterrupted availability — to the maximum extent permitted by law.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the app — including reliance on predictions, content, or AI responses, or loss of locally stored data.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid for Aara Plus in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) ₹500. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under Indian consumer protection law that cannot be waived.

12. Termination

You can stop using Aara at any time by uninstalling it; Settings → Delete all data erases everything first if you wish. We may suspend access to online features (AI, ads, purchases) for breach of these Terms. Sections 3, 4, 8, 10, 11, and 13 survive termination.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to applicable consumer law, courts in Bengaluru, Karnataka have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms.

We aim to respond within 7 days, in accordance with the timelines required under the DPDP Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the app evolves. We will update the version number and effective date here, and the app will show you the updated Terms for acceptance before they apply. Continued use after acceptance constitutes agreement.
